Hughes H-1 Racer Parts Set - Jim Pepino
Bring the iconic Hughes H-1 Racer to life with our Belair parts set, designed to save hours of cutting and shaping while giving you a head start on building this impressive 80-inch-span model.
The parts set includes bulkheads, complex formers, wing seat components, fuselage parts, wing ribs, dihedral braces and all the other intricately shaped balsa and plywood components required to build the H-1 Racer. The 1/4" spruce spars are not included, but the required braces are supplied.
The set also includes a fibreglass cowl and multi-sheet plans, giving you the key components needed to get your build underway. Simply add the required stripwood, sheet wood and covering and you can start building, without the hours of tedious cutting required to produce these intricate parts by hand.
A Little History
The Hughes H-1 Racer was built by Howard Hughes in 1935 as a purpose-built racing aircraft. Its beautifully streamlined design was created with one thing in mind — speed.
With different wing configurations, the H-1 went on to set both a world airspeed record and a transcontinental speed record across the United States. It was also the last aircraft built by a private individual to set the world speed record, making the H-1 an important part of aviation history.
Its distinctive shape, sleek fuselage and racing heritage make the H-1 Racer a particularly striking model for any collection or flying field.
